Rest in Peace Jonny Cash

With the heaviest of hearts we must break the sad news that our beloved Jonny Cash (JC) passed away. Jonny had a three day battle with colic and after two nights at the vet hospital was unable to pull through. Rest assure Shelly and the Unbridled staff, along with those at Argyle Veterinary Hospital, did everything they could for him and he fought hard to live.

Jonny was gifted to Unbridled in 2017 by Joe Aizpuru, a dear friend of our Co-Founder Shelly Turner. JC was a sweet soul. The pictures below show our gorgeous boy providing smiles and love to everyone he was near. He was a sensitive soul that taught us about emotions, feelings, patience and so much more. Sweet Jonny Cash touched and helped more people than many of us will in a lifetime. He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

You earned your wings and halo. Run free and fast Jonny Cash!

A Dynamic Duo

This pair have grown leaps and bounds with one another. They have a special bond in that their personalities are so similar, both fiesty and fun. This rider has been with Unbridled since we opened in 2016 and although she has rode several different horses through the years, Linus has always been a favorite.

In the video below this dynamic duo found their jive with and for the first time trotted off the lunge line. The rider is completely in control of Linus, steering him around the pen as well as using her legs and body to ask him to go. For a young lady diagnosed with ASD and apraxia riding a pony that likes to go fast at all times, they both did an amazing job finding their groove into this nice calm little trot around the pen.

You can read more about this rider and what equine therapy has done for her on our testimonials page.

Ground Driving JC

Depending on what goals a rider is working toward, we do various activities with our horses. In the video below, this rider is ground driving Johnny Cash. In doing so, the rider is required to be calm and paying attention to the horses body language and where the dual reins are being held with regards to the riders body.

This rider is doing an excellent job ground driving JC around the round pen. He is calm and guiding JC in a gentle manner using the reins and his body language. Enjoy the video!

Training Midnight

When we opened Unbridled, Midnight was not technically a ‘therapy horse.’ We had our work cut out for us. Little did we know, he would become an amazing therapy horse and has so much to give.

In the video below, the rider and Jamie were working with Midnight on following an electric wheelchair at an appropriate distance without getting scared and without stepping or accidently kicking the wheelchair. We needed to be sure the rider and his chair were always in Midnights area of vision while weaving the obstacles.

As you can see in the video, the rider and Midnight did an excellent job being partners and learning from one another and the results have provided an amazing therapy horse in Midnight.
